The timeline dates back to implementing segregation in the South, resistance to the inequality that came from that decision, and the Supreme Court\u2019s decision to integrate schools approximately 60 years after segregation. The timeline also shows how white resistance in New Orleans politics existed during this period in an attempt to ensure segregation continued. It intended to examine the locations of Black and white public schools to look for patterns in school segregation in neighborhoods. However, Hurricane Katrina destroyed most of New Orleans\u2019 public schools, replacing them with charter schools. Instead, this map examines addresses located in public schools around the 1950s. Based on the map, denial of financial support was possible in several public schools established in the 1930s and 40s in hazardous zones.
